360 Degree Panorama for Group Customers

Within Mietsu Naval Dock in Saga, known as a unique “invisible World Heritage site”, we’ve planned and produced dome-shaped theater and its panorama animation.
In 2015, we as CAD CENTER CORPORATION produced “MIETSU TIME CRUISE” using Head Mount Display (HMD) for Mietsu Naval Dock. Despite this content successfully gained a reputation, “specialty of Mietsu Naval Dock”, we faced an issue that the device which served only one person at once wasn’t suitable for visitors as a group.
This time, the dorm theater at once serves multiple customers and families together, but also provides a high sense of immersion in animation.

Note: this photo is a proposal computer graphics when the machine will be installed.

The Dome Theater Animation Challenge

Unlike common flat-screen, this dorm theater provides the wide view of 360 degree. Although the high resolution overwhelmingly slows the rendering speed, in order to achieve the high sense of immersion, we adjusted it with the consideration of the position of view point and the screen size.

Familiarity and Perfection

Alongside of “MIETSU TIME CRUISE” in the last project, we successively focus on how much we can entertain visitors. This dorm theater rather involves entertainment content, so that even those who are new to the topic, or little children can get involved with the history.
Moreover, we pursue not only its simplicity but also the credibility and precision in details. Upon the production, we invited Professor Emeritus Hiroyuki Adachi from Tokyo University. This content is refined in many details, such as a mechanism of moving steam engine, and physical-simulated water splashes.
